Before you meet him in person, you can learn more about Dr. Richards below.
Why Did You Decide to
Become a Periodontist?
Dr. Richards was always intrigued by the healthcare professions, but he instead chose to pursue a business degree in finance at Utah Valley University. As fate would have it, he met his wife, Ashley, who was studying dental hygiene. It was in her chair as a patient that he discovered his own passion for dentistry. It showed him that working in a field where he could create meaningful relationships and provide services to improve the lives of people in his community would be the perfect fit for him.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
After earning his finance degree, Dr. Richards changed course and went on to graduate from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. He then did his periodontal residency at the Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University. While there, he received extensive training focused on periodontal treatment, soft tissue grafting, dental implant treatment, periodontal regeneration, bone grafting/ridge augmentation, sinus augmentation procedures, and IV sedation.
A lifelong learner, Dr. Richards maintains active memberships in the:
- American Dental Association
- Utah Dental Association
- American Academy of Periodontology
- Southern Academy of Periodontology
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
